Privacy policy

HoneNURSE ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our users. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the HoneNURSE platform and the HoneLENS browser extension, how that information is used, and how you can exercise control over your data.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

  • Authentication Data: When you sign in to HoneNURSE, you provide your email address. We authenticate you via a temporary 6-digit one-time passcode (OTP) sent to your inbox, or via Google Sign-In (OpenID Connect). We never ask for, collect, or store passwords.
  • Career & Candidate Profile: You may optionally select your licensure candidate status (e.g., First-time candidate, Awaiting retest, or Licensed RN) and voluntary graduation or target exam dates to personalize your dashboard and 45-day planner.
  • Support Communications: When you contact customer support, we retain your email and correspondence to resolve your request.

B. Information Processed Automatically

  • Exam Progress & Integrity Logs: When completing computer-based practice examinations, the platform records timestamps, question responses, and browser focus events (such as full-screen exits or tab switches) strictly to maintain session integrity, calculate your score band, and permit resuming after disconnection.
  • Cloudflare Cookieless Analytics: We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure high-level website traffic and technical performance. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies, does not collect personal identifiers, and does not track users across the internet.

2. HoneLENS Browser Extension Privacy

The HoneLENS Chrome extension is architected with a privacy-first, local-execution model:

  1. Local Processing: When you use HoneLENS to analyze research articles, paper text is processed directly within your browser side panel. HoneNURSE servers do not receive or store the articles or documents you review.
  2. Student-Owned AI Keys: If you choose to enable AI-assisted analysis in HoneLENS, you provide your own API key (e.g., Google Gemini or OpenRouter). Your key is stored securely in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) and is sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider. Your AI key is never transmitted to or logged by HoneNURSE.
  3. No Account Required for Extension Use: You can use the free tier of HoneLENS without creating a HoneNURSE account.
  4. Public research lookups: To check a source, HoneLENS sends article identifiers (such as a DOI or PubMed ID) to public scholarly services such as Crossref and the US National Library of Medicine (PubMed). It does not send your notes, clips or drafts.
  5. License Key Activation: Pro subscribers enter a license key issued by Dodo Payments. The extension validates the key directly with Dodo Payments' license verification servers.

3. Payment Processing & Merchant of Record

All financial transactions are conducted through our Merchant of Record, Dodo Payments.

  • When you purchase an ebook, practice exam, or HoneLENS subscription, payment details (including credit card numbers, billing addresses, and tax identifiers) are collected directly by Dodo Payments.
  • HoneNURSE never sees, processes, or stores your credit card details or bank account information.
  • We receive only a confirmation of payment, transaction ID, customer email, and the entitlement or license key issued for your purchase.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the minimal information collected exclusively to:

  • Authenticate your account and grant access to purchased digital ebooks and practice exams.
  • Display your exam results reports, diagnostic breakdowns, and saved opportunities.
  • Deliver operational emails (such as 6-digit login codes and essential account notices).
  • Maintain examination integrity and prevent unauthorized redistribution of content.

We do not sell, rent, monetize, or share your personal data with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or marketing networks.

5. Data Retention & Your Right to Delete

  1. Retention: We retain account and exam attempt history only for as long as your account remains active.
  2. Self-Serve Account Deletion ("Delete My Data"): You have the absolute right to delete your personal data at any time. In your Account Dashboard, you can permanently delete your account by typing DELETE to confirm. You can also download a copy of your data from Account settings first.
  • Executing account deletion immediately and irreversibly removes your user record, authentication tokens, exam attempt history, career profile data, and saved opportunities from our database.
  • For accounting and tax audit compliance, records of financial transactions are maintained by our Merchant of Record (Dodo Payments) in accordance with statutory tax retention laws.
