HoneLENS privacy policy
Effective October 17, 2026. This policy covers the HoneLENS Chrome extension, made by HoneNURSE.
The short version
HoneLENS is a Chrome extension for nursing students. Your library, notes, citations, cards, assignments and practice results are stored in your own browser. HoneLENS needs no account and has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. HoneNURSE does not receive your library or your browsing, and does not sell or share your data.
What stays on your device
Sources, quotes and clips, notes, citations, flashcards, assignments, reading sheets, evidence matrices, dosage attempts and practice exam sessions, page captures, imported files, AI analyses you have run, saved lookup results, a local activity log, your settings, your AI key and your license state.
Removing the extension erases all of it. Inside HoneLENS, Settings › Backup and data › Delete all my data erases your library, and Settings › AI › Remove key erases your AI key. You can export your work to one file (a hone-pack) at any time; the file never includes your AI key or your license key.
What is sent, and only when you use the feature
- PubMed E-utilities and the MeSH lookup (US National Library of Medicine):the PMIDs or DOIs you check, and the search terms you type in the query builder.
- Crossref: the DOIs you check.
- Europe PMC: the PMIDs you check, to find free full text.
- Your AI provider (for example Google Gemini or OpenRouter), with the API key you connected: the text of the article you analyze, your questions about it, and, in the evidence-based practice builder, the abstracts or saved text of the papers you compare. Nothing is sent to an AI provider until you connect a key and use an AI feature. Your provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to what you send. Free AI keys may allow the provider to use requests to improve its services, so analyze published articles rather than private notes or patient information.
- Dodo Payments, our payment processor (only if you use HoneLENS Pro): your license key and a device label (for example "HoneLENS Chrome (Windows)") when you activate Pro, and your license key when HoneLENS confirms Pro (when Chrome starts and once a day) or when you deactivate a device.
HoneLENS sends nothing else. Settings › Network disclosure inside HoneLENS lists every one of these requests.
Reading web pages
On research article pages (PubMed, PMC, Europe PMC and major journal sites), HoneLENS checks inside your browser whether the page is a single article so it can show an "Analyze with HoneLENS" button. It reads the article's citation details and text only when you use that button. On any other site, HoneLENS reads a page only when you click its toolbar icon, choose "Analyze with HoneLENS" or "Save to HoneLENS" from the right-click menu, or allow that site yourself. HoneLENS never reads pages in the background and never collects your browsing history.
HoneLENS Pro and your HoneNURSE account
If you buy HoneLENS Pro on the HoneNURSE website, your order and your license key are kept in your HoneNURSE account so you can find the key again. TheHoneNURSE privacy policy covers that account. The extension itself never sends your library, notes or reading to HoneNURSE.
Children and health information
HoneLENS is made for college and university students. Do not enter patient information into HoneLENS. Dosage practice is educational and never for real patient dosing.
